Time for a new watch!
G-Shock is the ultimate tough watch. It was born from a developer’s dream of “creating a watch that never breaks.” Guided by a “Triple 10″ development concept, the design teams sought a watch with 10-meter free-fall endurance, 10-bar water resistance and a 10-year battery life.
At a time when it was commonly believed that watches were breakable items, G-Shock’s development represented a challenge to common sense. The number of experimental prototypes built for endurance testing reached over 200. And the structural development and parts improvement took approximately two years. After a long, hard process of trial and error, G-Shock was finally launched. A shock resistant structure that overturned conventional thinking about watches was realized through breakthrough thinking, including the ideas of a hollow-structured case, all-directional protective covering and the use of cushioning material to protect critical parts.
These were the fruits of technological development that insisted on “toughness” and a revolution in watch design. Since launched, G-Shock has continued to evolve for 25 long years, carrying on the toughness of spirit and uncompromising passion that led its developers to persist in their unshakable belief.

Our Exquisite Corpse work with the Huichol people of Western Mexico to create these beaded skulls.
The Huichols believe in the power of the Sun God, ancestral spirits and four principal deities – Deer, Corn, Peyote and the Eagle.
They live in the Sierra Madre Mountains and have a long history in creating beaded art. Our Exquisite Corpse has commissioned individual pieces from the most gifted artists.
While most of the pieces are traditional, others are interpretations of contemporary designs provided by us.
These unique beaded skulls are not only part of a limited collection, but remain a treasured piece of Huichol culture.

Cool blue and summer red
Complete with a grassy green field and cricket balls bordering the runway, the Moncler fashion show turned into an assembly of a cricket team photo.
The butterfly collars, knee high socks and cable knit v-neck sweaters was a telltale sign that Moncler Gamme Bleu was taking us back to Oxford during the first half of the 1900′s and to exotic frontiers like the ex-pat British colonial gentlemen clubs of India and Rhodesia.
True to the sport, designer Thom Browne managed a stark all-white collection with navy blue and red trim here and there.
Classic pieces like cardigans were elongated, while shorts were embellished with silver buttons.
In terms of fabrics, cotton, lightweight summer wool, Oxford cloth, cotton pique, cotton jersey and lightweight cashmere dominated. Footwear, which was buried in the mob of white, featured in cotton canvas and nubuck.
Double breasted chesterfield coats also made an appearance providing the possibility of wearing this collection somewhere else besides the cricket field.
Rock&Roll isn’t glamour without glitter!
Heidi’s collection reference glamour of the 1970s and infused it with Slimane’s own code of androgyny. Navy sequin jackets worn with tight zebra print trousers and a red bandana wrapped around the models neck. Patent black trousers, Hawaiian print shirts worn over leather jackets and a chequered black and white biker worn by a male model with red lipstick. Hedi was gender blurring and perhaps this season he was paying homage to Bowie – particularly his approach to sexual identity. As each look came out I couldn’t help but think back to one of Bowie’s lyrics – “Nothing stands in your way when you’re a boy…” This season Hedi’s boys were powerful and seductive – nothing stood in their way.

Whenever Moncler Gamme Bleu puts out wearable pieces and not the ridiculously outlandish runway stuff, they generally can do no wrong, and that’s exemplified here in the French label’s FW ’13 offering. Inspired by the harsh winters of the Scottish highlands, the collection features versatile pieces like a down-filled jackets and several iterations of the traditional Scottish fishermen Aran sweater. Californian based DITA eyewear released their “Legends” collection for Fall/Winter 2013. Legendary tattoo artist (and owner of Shamrock Social Club) Mark Mahoney stars in the lookbook, modeling some of the 12 newest designs. Taking a retro vibe, the style icon set the mood for a stylized eyewear collection with a 1960s influence but yet retain modern world sensibilities. Highsnobiety x Marcelo Burlon iPhone 5 cases
Highsnobiety teamed up with designer Marcelo Burlon to create an exclusive collection of iPhone 5 cases. For the collaboration, Highsnobiety produced three iPhone 5 cases featuring the signature designs the Italian label has become known for since its creation in 2012. Available are the Sun, Dom, and Pas designs on a black, dull glaze exterior while the interior features the Highsnobiety logo and web address. The three iPhone 5 cases have a soft touch matte finish and all come in black.

3.1 Phillip Lim FW13
Inspired by Cafe Racer culture, the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for FW13 pays homage to the nomadic spirit, one that has an innate curiosity and is in celebration of a journey. The show took place in the stunning Palais du Tokyo in Paris and included lots of biker inspired features, heavy knitwear and Lim’s signature leather details.
Onitsuka Tiger California 78
Onitsuka Tiger celebrates the 35th anniversary of the CALIFORNIA 78 with a limited edition of the brands iconic sneaker.
California is the spiritual home of many iconic moments and movements, including the jogging and fitness crazes of the 1970s and 1980s. As the running boom reached fever pitch in 1978 the CALIFORNIA 78, originally CALIFORNIA, was born. The sneaker launched in the same year as Space Invaders, just as John Travolta shot to fame in Grease and Saturday Night Fever. CALIFORNIA 78 was a masterpiece of that era’s Onitsuka Tiger collection. The 35th anniversary of its impact on sport and fashion is celebrated this year with a limited edition of 1,978 pairs.
Crafted in its original iconic yellow and mid-blue colourway the shoe retains its classic silhouette and ‘T-toe’ construction; while the original nylon base is replaced with a light mesh upper and suede overlays. The CALIFORNIA 78 revolutionised running with its reflective panel and disk on the heel, an innovation inspired by the rising popularity of evening jogging in Japan. Additional anniversary details include a label on the back of the tongue with “1 of 1978” – an acknowledgement of the shoe’s limited edition status. The look is perfected with “California” written in 1970s iconography across the in-sole.
This season’s collection brings a broad spectrum of comfortable sweaters and T-shirts. The famous tiger is accompanied by the Kenzo logo in Japanese writing and this seasons ‘cloud print’. The men’s collection for Fall/Winter 2013 is an exploration of the skies, inflected by ancient mythologies of the mystical world above. The collection merges our urbanized modern world on the ground with the boundless heavens. A celestial theme pervades the prints: daytime and nighttime clouds, lightning bolts, raindrops and stars appear throughout the collection. Many available styles, like the items with clouds, are not shown in the pictures, so make sure you stop by the store to get a glimpse of the entire Kenzo collection.
Bedwin & The Heartbreakers SS13
The latest Spring Summer collection from Japanese brand Bedwin & The Heartbreakers is mainly inspired by Jazz musician Chet Baker and the ‘50s and ‘60s West coast styles. Americana is one of the main obsessions for the brand’s head designer Masafumi Watanabe and of course this influence is also very present in this season’s collection. He named the collection ‘Almost Blue’ after the track that made Baker famous. It’s also one of the colors that seems to appear the most on all items. The items shown in the gallery above are just a small selection of the Bedwin & The Heartbreakers collection at FOUR.
Neil Barrett Backpack
This Neil Barrett Backpack is one of the eye-catchers for the new season. The pack comes in premium washed black leather and has extra padded and panelled sections on the two large outer pockets. On the outside of the bag you’ll find some details, like the buckles, inspired by the military, while on the inside it comes fully lined with one zipped pocket. The backpack has two adjustable leather straps, one top handle and a zip closure.
Mason Garments SS13
FOUR launched the long anticipated ‘Zoo’ collection of Dutch based brand Mason Garments. The ‘Coach Grant High’ sneaker is created with a mash-up material combination of pony hair, soft suede and printed snakeskin. The sneakers are available in limited quantities in the colors Black, Grey, Blue and Burgundy. Price: €259,-
Born in 1983 in East-Berlin, David and his parents fled from the communistic system in the GDR in 1989 just moments before the fall of the Berlin wall. They settled down in the south of Germany where he’s still living now. His love for drawing caused him to choose an artistic education in which he found the best way of expression in photography. After an apprenticeship in photography, he moved to Amsterdam to assist Erwin Olaf. Back in Germany, he’s now running his own studio in Karlsruhe, producing art- and commisioned work
David’s latest series, ‘Mirrors’ and ‘Confessions’ will be put at disposal at FOUR by the Amstel Gallery. The six pictures from Confessions are each showing men and women in their bedrooms looking at themselves in a mirror. Different kind of people, who all have something in common as they all break social taboos. Confessions captures the reactions that these people show while looking at their mirror image.
‘Mirrors’ shows the contradictory view our society has on beauty in eight pictures. Four beautiful young girls looking very insecure and in doubt. Even though they are almost perfect, they observe themselves in a very strict way and criticize every single flaw on their body and face. The four guys are a contrast when compared to the girls. They aren’t perfect at all, but they do look very confident at themselves and don’t care about any beauty ideals. They are not pristine, but they are satisfied.

Thom Browne: The Oxford shirt
“Jeans and a T-shirt have become establishment, everyone’s dressed down. So actually putting on a jacket is the anti-establishment stance.” This sums up the entire thought behind Thom Browne his men’s line. The line has strong, classic tailoring as it’s base, but always with some playful, seasonal details added. The Oxford shirt is one of the foundation of a men’s wardrobe and one of the most important items in every Thom Browne collection. The shirt, which is named after the fabric it’s made of, returns in white with the typical red-white-blue placket every season. For SS13 some brighter variations have been added, like the checked multi color version.
Onitsuka Tiger x Mita
Giant pandas Ri Ri and Shin Shin are the inspiration for a limited-edition collaboration between Japanese lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger and Tokyo‘s famed Mita Sneakers store. The bamboo-eating carnivores, whose names emphasis vitality and innocence, are national icons in Japan.
To re-imagine Onitsuka Tiger’s classic FABRE BL-L basketball shoe, Mita looked to its neighbour, the Ueno Zoo, home to Ri Ri and Shin Shin. Ueno first received giant pandas as a diplomatic gift from China 40 years ago and is celebrating its 120-year anniversary. The zoo is dedicated to the conservation of the nearly extinct species.
Originating from China, giant pandas are symbols of peace revered for their spiritual qualities and ability to ward off evil spirits. Their black and white fur is believed to represent harmony between two opposing Yin and Yang forces.
The FABRE BL-L is a high-top, ankle-supporting basketball shoe first worn by the NBA’s “Most Valuable Player” and Boston Celtics’ center, Dave Cowens, in 1973, soon after pandas first arrived in Japan. ABRE, an abbreviation of the basketball move “FAstBREak”, is an Onitsuka Tiger model that pioneered on-court performance footwear by giving basketball players unprecedented ‘stop & start’ manoeuvrability.
On the Mita shoe, black and white acrylic fur imitates the panda’s colouring. Real suede on the upper and back give the sneaker a premium touch, while the Mita Sneakers’ logo printed on the shoelace adds to the finish, along with its ‘CHAIN LINK’ graphic printed on the in sole.
The price for the MITA limited edition is €120. It will available at FOUR from 27 April.
Common Projects SS13
Art director Mr Prathan Poopat and creative consultant Mr Flavio Girolami established common Projects in 2004. What started as a simple idea to create a classic, minimal, well-made sneaker for themselves, blossomed into a mini empire of shoes, but also bags and other accessories. This season brings some exceptionally fresh colors and designes, mixed with some of Common Project’s well known, never out of style classics like the famous ‘Achilles’.

Raf Simons SS13
Androgynous mixed with prints and a touch of Grunge is how to describe Raf Simons SS13 collection at best. A mix between fashion and street. Further more the designer stated the he loves eyes. This is clearly expressed by the huge painted faces from L.A. artist Brian Calvin which are printed onto t-shirts. Another eye-catcher in the SS13 collection is the pair of chained sneakers. We always like it when a designer presents something different, something with a twist and that is exactly what Raf Simons did this summer.
‘A day with 3Sixteen’
After a three year hiatus, 3Sixteen is happy to present the third segment of their ongoing video series entitled “A day with 3sixteen.” Filmed on March 6th, 2013, Kellen Dangler tailed the Denim guys for a day as they went about their tasks and captured a work day at 3sixteen from his perspective.
Tom Ford SS13

Tom Ford’s SS13 collection is bright, vibrant and a little cheeky. All the traditional elements are there, but the designer gave them a fresh look by using different patterns, fresh colors and sharp silhouettes. Of course the famous traditional Tom Ford Tuxedo is included in the collection as well, together with some exquisite bags and shoes that match your look.
Together with the new season, Tom Ford found a new brand ambassador in Justin Timberlake. Tom Ford and Justin Timberlake collaborated to create the refined style that is reflected in Justin’s new album ‘The 20/20 Experience’. The artwork for the first single from the album, ‘Suit & Tie Featuring JAY Z’ features a Tom Ford tuxedo with satin peak lapels, pique front shirt and oversized satin bowtie, a signature look of the Tom Ford menswear collection. Ford worked closely with Timberlake and his team to provide Made-to-Measure tailoring, including eveningwear, suiting, shirting, ties, shoes and accessories that will be a focal point of the ‘The 20/20 Experience’. The designer said: “I adore Justin. He has innate style and enormous talent. It has been such a pleasure and honor to work with him throughout this entire creative process.”

The collection includes classic items that form a base for a contemporary and modern men’s wardrobe that are further enhanced by the Missoni heritage knits.

Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio
From this Saturday the Onitsuka Tiger and Andrea Pompilio collaboration sneaker will be available at FOUR. For this SS13 collection both brands have worked together and co-designed an iconic sneaker which will represent a key style in the new Andrea Pompilio SS collection. The single style is a light weight sneaker taken from the Onitsuka Tiger archive and reworked for the modern man.
About the designer:
Born in Pesaro on july 29 1973, Andrea has lived in a creative environment. His father is an architect and his mother a passionate of painting. He grew up in his grandmother’s fashion shop and at 8 he decided he wanted to be a designer. After getting a diploma in fashion design at the institute of art in Pesaro, he went on to achieve a master’s degree in fashion design at Marangoni, Milan, in 1995. Soon after graduation, he went straight into the world of fashion where he developed his Italian sensitivity, international vision and refined high design skills. He has worked for some of the most important Italian and international fashion and luxury brands, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Prada, Calvin Klein and Yves Saint Laurent, developing a sophisticated and at the same time relaxed style, with a strong focus on high quality. In January 2010 he launched his first eponymous autumn/winter 2011 mens start-up collection.
The sneaker is available in a single variation: white/neon/reflective. Only 12 pairs will be available for the Netherlands. Six of these will be sold at FOUR.

The clothes feature prints of hand-drawings, manipulated photography and bold geometry with interwoven themes of retro graphics, amateur women and abstract art. Whether in black and white or vivid color, all prints have the feeling of nostalgia with a modern interpretation
3.1 Phillip Lim SS13
Brazil is home to the second-largest population of Japanese in the world. That culture clash appealed to Phillip Lim, and for Spring, he took inspiration from those so called Nipo-Brasileiro sub-cultures and mixed it with inspiration from traditional Baroque. Combing the minimal discipline of Nipo-Brasileiro with the notions of the Barroco culture the ornate is abstracted into a modern context. Resulting in a display of purist sensibilities consisting of strong lines, playful textures and youthful elegance.
Mr. Bathing Ape SS13
A recently released photo editorial by Mr. Bathing Ape shows Toshimi Watanabe wearing a range of items from the SS13 collection. He participated in the first World Wide BAPE Heads Show all the way back in 1997, being one of the original members of the Japanese Hip-Hop formation TOKYO No.1 SOUL SET. For it’s SS13 collection, Mr. Bathing Ape delivers a range of items which maintain the dandy sensibilities of the label mixed with some signature A Bathing Ape characteristics like the BAPE head logo and the use of colorful prints.
The Suits – Roger Elsten – Antwerp
Antwerp based menswear label The Suits is designed by Roger Elsten and delivers what its name implies. It’s suits are clean, fitted, rock ‘n roll inspired and made for men who like to wear suits again. All suits have a clean finish with slim lapels and no unnecessary stitching. The silhouette is slim and the fit is comfortable through the use of fabrics with a little stretch. In the SS13 collection there is something for every man. There are the grey and the black suits, but also a dark, surprisingly light weight, denim suit. The brand succeeded very well in combining a man made look with a rock star feeling. Or as they say: Gentleman meets Rock Star.
Pentax K-01 by Marc Newson
Pentax teamed up with Sydney born, London based designer Marc Newson to create the K-01. Internationally known for designing a wide range of furniture and household items such as bicycles, cars, aircraft and yachts, various Marc Newson collections have been on display in The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City as well as many other major museums. Featuring a contemporary yet classic style, the K-01 provides discriminating photographers with a full array of advanced functions and user-friendly features in a camera body with remarkable form and function. Available in Newson’s signature yellow colors, the new K-01 features the designer’s autograph logo stamp on the bottom of each camera.
The famed designer’s touch also is evident in a new smc PENTAX-DA 40mm F2.8 XS interchangeable lens. As the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens, the new 40mm combines with the PENTAX K-01 camera body to deliver a unique mirrorless ILC system that is perfect for photographers who are as keen on design as they are on performance. The Marni SS13 collection is strong, bright and has Marni’s known eye for detail. When you want to add straight silhouettes, patterns or prints to your wardrobe, then Marni is your brand. The Marni Men’s SS13 features a special collaboration with Dutch artist Rop van Mierlo. Blotchy shapes of animals (a donkey, a tiger, a parrot and an ostrich which has been created by the artist exclusively for Marni) are printed onto t-shirts. The subjects are part of van Mierlo’s book Wild Animals, worth a Best Dutch Design Award in 2011.
‘Trickers’ 3.1 Phillip Lim SS13
To launch the Men’s Spring 2013 collection 3.1 Phillip Lim released an exclusive short film featuring the undiscovered art of “Tricking.” Created by 3.1 Phillip Lim and celebrated fashion photographer Jacob Sutton. The short showcases the Spring 2013 Men’s collection in flight, on real life battling ‘Trickers’ Jason Mello and Micah Karns.
Tricking is a combination of gymnastics, martial arts, and b-boying or bread dancing. The martial arts components take disciplines from taekwondo, capoeira and wushu or kung fu consisting of a combination of kicks, flips and twists pushing the boundaries of creativity in what the physical body can do. A cult phenomenon still relatively untapped – ‘Trickers’ from around the world gather in underground spaces to battle using their best moves.

Taka Hayashi is a self taught painter, illustrator and graphic designer who was born in Japan and moved to the U.S at the age of 10. There he lived in Santa Monica where the 80’s skateboard scene had a big impact on his life and his art. His collaboration with Vans Vault has produced a wide collection of many memorable silhouettes.

Zarb Champagne was launched in 2009. The name Zarb derives from the French slang for ‘bizarre’. Zarb, then, is no traditional champagne brand, but rather traditional champagne with an unconventional look, based on an unconventional idea. Because why drink champagne only at times that tradition prescribes? Why not when your boat is sinking? At your ex-girlfriend’s wedding? While waiting for a bus? During confession? Or because it’s Tuesday? Everywhere. Always. Here. Now.
Of course, a champagne brand for any day does not have to be an everyday brand. That’s why Zarb breaks with the outward clichés of traditional champagne bottles and is available in collections of fashionable bottles made by internationally acclaimed artists.
Zarb Champagne is produced by the Baron family in the village of Charly-Sur-Marne, on the western side of the Marne Valley in Champagne. It’s dominated by the Meunier (55%), bringing fruitiness and delicacy to the cuveé, blended with the finesse of the Chardonnay (30%) and the strength of the Pinot Noir (15%).

Slowly the store is filled with all the Spring/Summer 2013 collections. Starting with Alexander Mcqueen. The collection is filled with blue, red, orange and grey tones. The sweaters are light, trousers are white and perfectly combined with a colored polo or the jeans shirt with leather details. Of course the must -have key items like the skull t-shirts, umbrellas and scarfs are also present in this collection. FOUR favorites are the ‘God save Mcqueen’ scarf and sneakers with leather covered studs. Not all the items sold at FOUR are present in the pictures.

Mark McNairy is a busy guy. He has his own clothing line, multiple collaborations and is designing the Billionaire Boys Club’s ‘Bee Line’ together with Pharrell Williams. Besides that he also has his own line of footwear, which offers playful silhouettes based on classic menswear designs. McNairy’s influence is clearly present in the use of many material combinations and different color-blocking schemes which is most present in the soles.

Vans Vault x Diemme Buffalo Boot LX
Vans Vault has partnered with Italian shoe manufacturer Diemme to design the Buffalo Boot LX. The boots are hand made in Italy by Diemme and take their inspiration from their Roccia Vet design. This hiking inspired limited release has a durable Vibram outsole, metal hardware, water proof suede and gusseted tongues. On december 1st we will celebrate the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum’s one year anniversary at FOUR. You can watch Henk Schiffmacher and Chris Danley work live in our pop up tattoo shop and you can even go home with a tattoo yourself!
Maybe you’ve heard some other news about the museum as well. As a result of a disagreement with the museum’s investor Schiffmacher’s collection is held hostage. This means that Henk and his crew can not get access to the museum. Absurd? Yes! Another reason to visit the event this saturday? Yes!
We at FOUR love to celebrate the ATM’s first year, but how cool would it be if we could have a second celebration next year!? Because this next celebration might be in danger we will collect money during the event in the following ways:

Human Made FW12
Japanese label Human Made draws most of its inspiration from vintage American workwear combined with influences from the 50’s. The Fall/Winter 2012 collection is one with many classics, but as usual with a modern and unexpected twist. That twist presents itself in the use of fabric, cuts, details and prints. To present an image of the collection Co-founder NIGO makes his usual appearance in the brands seasonal look book, which is presented on the Human Made website.
All Freshfiber cases are made through 3D printing. A digital file made by the designer is fed into a 3D print machine. Layer by layer, this machine fuses the base material into the shapes defined by the digital file. After a while of printing, the product comes out of the machine in the most complex shapes one can imagine. Which results into a case for your phone with a sweet history attached, because it actually came out of a printer.

FOUR x Amsterdam Tattoo Museum
World renowned Californian tattoo artist ‘ little’ Chris Danley and Dutch tattoo legend Henk ‘Hanky Panky’ Schiffmacher give you the opportunity to get tattooed at FOUR.
Saturday December 1st the tattoo shop will open its doors for just one day. This will be the kick of to a series of events to celebrate the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum’s one year anniversary. Johnny and the Gangsters of Love, also known as ‘The fastest Rock ‘n Roll band on the road’, will open the shop at 13:30 with a dazzling performance in style. Followed by Henk and Chris tattooing live on you or your friends…
Then there’s only one question left to be answered: How to make an appointment? You simply can’t. Just be there Saturday December 1st at 13:30 and get your tattoo immediately. Or keep an eye on our Facebook page and you might be the one that wins a free tattoo.
Tattooing will take place on december 1, 2012 at FOUR by Azzurro (P.C. Hooftstraat 127, Amsterdam) between 14:00 and 18:00.
Participants have to be at least 18 years of age
Tattoos may not be bigger than 10x5cm
Tattoo artist will be picked at random (either Chris Danley or Henk Schiffmacher)

Neighborhood mastermind Shinsuke Takizawa started the brand in Harajuku, Tokyo 1994. Back then he was involved in motorcycling and its surrounding counter culture, which became the base for all Neighborhood products. These elements are still clearly visible in the 2012 Fall/Winter collection. This collection is striped down to its basics. It has no direct theme and shows us the true Neighborhood characteristics.
